Let\u2019s start with our importer friends at Caf\u00e9 R\u00edo Verde. They have found two amazing El Salvador coffees for us\u2026<\/p>\n

First up is a high scoring coffee from the Las Delicias farm. The bing cherry sweetness followed by a sage-like herbalness is quite spectacular. Add in a touch of lilac floral overtones and you have yourself quite a cup.<\/p>\n

So what\u2019s so special about the Gesha (sometimes spelled Geisha) varietal of coffee? Everything. Gesha is the classic definition of an heirloom varietal: when you hear stories about the Ethiopian goat herder and his dancing goats, the Gesha varietal is what they were munching on. (Don\u2019t know what I\u2019m talking about? Check out our coffee workshops!) Clean, pure flavor, and a perfectly balanced cup is the hallmark of the Gesha coffees. Usually, you\u2019ll find the Geshas that are explosively floral, fruited, and full-bodied. That is not<\/em> this Gesha. Clover honey, clove, and a strong Red Delicious Apple note dominate this cup, especially as it cools. Tasting is believing. I will warn you\u2013Geshas are notoriously pricier than other beans, but think of it as the top shelf liquor: you get what you pay for.<\/p>\n

Those of you still mourning the loss of our India Monsooned Malabar, this one\u2019s for you. Deep, heavy body (especially dominant as the cup cools) with a strong oak and cedar note. As it cools, the flavor starts to take on a crispness that can be closely associated with the taste you get from a green bell pepper\u2013not the taste of the pepper, mind you. Think of that \u201cbite\u201d the pepper gives your palate.<\/p>\n

Myanmar Sin Net Chaung<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

In spite of the atrocities of civil war in this country, coffee production is still rolling along and improving year over year. The last time we were able to get our hands on coffee from Myanmar it quickly became a team favorite. This year is just. that. much. better.<\/p>\n

We decided on a Natural Process coffee this time around. This turned out to be a good choice. On first sip, the first thought that went through my mind was \u201cHawaiian Punch.\u201d Seriously. This coffee is a serious fruit bomb. As it cools, this stunning plum note emerges. At the same time, a heavy body is present throughout the cup. Seriously, this one\u2019s a winner.<\/p>\n

We also have a new Ethiopia that is going through sample roasting. We hope to have that on the bar and on our site by the end of this week. And, yes, we have started formulating our Holiday Blend. Look for that closer to the start of November.<\/p>\n
